THE STORY BEHIND THE DESIGN

The Story Behind the “Vacation Chaos” Puzzle

It is a beautiful day at Lyckeby Campsite. There is a small swimming area with a jetty by the campsite, as well as a number of pitches for motorhomes, caravans, and tents. A motley group of eccentric individuals has come here to enjoy the pleasures of camping life.

We see the campsite host, Marie, sitting in her reception office and despairingly realizing that her guests are creating total chaos at her lovely campsite. The guests’ behavior has consequences for both the campsite and the characters.

Pekka, who is obsessed with gadgets and status, proudly shows off his shiny new motorhome. He is completely unaware that the lumberjack Martin is felling a tree that looks as though it is going to fall straight onto his prized vehicle. Riitta, who is also by the motorhome, is playing with her little dog Boss and is completely focused on training him to perform tricks. This could become sad and expensive!

Over by the reception, Britt sees Martin sawing down the tree and what it could lead to. She points and is very upset. She seeks eye contact with the despairing Marie.

Lars is repairing his old bicycle. But he is missing several parts. How will he manage to complete the task?

Hasse only has four days of vacation this summer. Unfortunately, he manages to get sick just after putting up his tent; he has both a stomachache and a fever. Not a good start to the vacation!

In the blue-flowered tent, we see the illustrator Cathrin happily peeking out.

Stina & Kurt have just arrived at the campsite on their motorcycles. Kurt has a flat tire and is distraught about it. Luckily, Stina is handy. This can be fixed!

Birgitta is standing outside an old caravan, watering her beloved flowers. She has arranged a perfect little area in front of the caravan with a fence and flower boxes. She seems completely unaffected by everything happening around her. Perhaps she is thinking about whether she should plant more flowers?

Charlie is busy grilling. He stands contentedly looking around and has failed to notice that the meat has started to burn on the grill. It will surely work out!

Tomas is trying to put up a tent for the family, but everything is becoming tangled. His wife Lotta is waiting beside him with their overtired children, waiting for them to be able to go to bed. How long will it take?

Frida is standing and stretching after a run, completely unaffected by everything happening at the campsite.

Per is excitedly holding a small auction. He is sweating profusely. The only person who notices him and the auction is the baby Sara in her stroller. She is covering her ears and looks a little bothered. Will anything be sold?

Mrs. Eriksson is checking the garbage bins and becomes upset about something that has been sorted incorrectly. What is she going to do about it?

Trude and Lasse are planning to sunbathe and are rubbing an excessive amount of sunscreen onto each other, leaving both of their faces completely white. It is good to protect yourself from the sun!

We see the Fischer family down by the beach. Their mother, Lina, is standing on the jetty, laughing and applauding her children. Lisa, holding a dripping ice cream cone, is trying to ride the dog Prick, who is enjoying it. Kurt is lying on the jetty with a magnifying glass, studying a fish looking up from the water. Their father, Ivan, is shouting and angrily pointing at his daughter and the dog. Surely that is not allowed?

Out in the lake, we can see the Great Lake Monster moving through the water. Does it really exist?

We also see a fair-haired woman, Hanna, riding a tricycle away from the puzzle and the mess.

More amusing characters and events can also be discovered in the picture, each contributing in their own way to the result: Vacation Chaos!
